Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiasticSpecialist Clinical Pharmacist within our Immunotherapy Clinical Pharmacy Team. As a Highly Specialist Pharmacist for Dermatology you will lead, deliver and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to patients receiving care within the Adult Dermatology Service.

Our award-winning dermatology department is known as the St John's Institute of Dermatology. It opened in 1863, and is now one of the world's leading centres for patients with skin disease. St John's is the largest clinical dermatology department in the UK. We treat a range of skin diseases, including rare and very severe conditions that require treatments not available elsewhere in the UK. We are also an internationally recognised centre of research.

Our Dermatology Day Care Unit provides facilities for a range of treatments or investigations for patients who do not need a full hospital admission, but need more care than what is routinely given during an outpatient clinic appointment. This includes intensive topical treatment for both low and high acuity patients, and administration of biologic treatments for patients with complex clinical needs. We have tertiary specialised services for people with epidermolysis bullosa (EB), hidradenitis supprativa (HS), immunobullous skin disease and severe eczema /psoriasis.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with our nursing, medical and administrative staff to ensure the safe and effective use of high cost biologic, non-biologic and topical medicines within Dermatology. You will attend weekly MDT's and clinically screen medication for patients attending our outpatient infusion suite, DDC or receiving medicines directly at home. Our team manages over 4000 patients that receive their medicines at home as well as 1600 patients that attend our infusion suites and day care unit every year.

About us

Our friendly Immunotherapy Pharmacy Team consists of 13 Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians delivering specialist clinical services to a number of specialties including allergy, rheumatology, neurosciences, chronic pain and ophthalmology. There is a wealth of experience and support in the team.
