Job Title: Locum Consultant in Adult Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia

Location: The Royal Brompton Hospital

The Royal Brompton Hospital, part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a full-time Consultant in Adult Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia. The post is a replacement post.

This clinical role is divided between Critical Care and Clinical Anaesthesia.

Applicants are required to be fully registered Medical Practitioners and must be on the GMC's Specialist Register in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.

Main duties of the job

This clinical role is divided between attending theatre and catheter laboratory clinical anaesthesia and peri-operative assessment and care as part of a team-based approach

The post holder will provide clinical services in Anaesthesia and the Critical Care Unit in accordance with clinical and legal requirements and in keeping with the international role of the Trust.

The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the adult anaesthesia and critical care on call rotas but only after considerable orientation and dependent upon previous experience.

  • AAdult cardiothoracic anaesthesia at least 12 months as an advanced trainee/ fellow

  • Experience in Transoesophageal echocardiography

Qualifications/Training

  • Full GMC registration
  • Basic transoesophageal echocardiography training
  • FRCA or equivalent
