Job summary
We are looking for band 6 ODP/ Anaesthetic Nurse to join our anaesthetic team at Royal Brompton Hospital. We are made of ODPs and Anaesthetic Nurses that staff six operating theatres including one hybrid theatre and five catheter labs. We also cover lists in the new Diagnostic Imaging Centre, CT and MRI and call out of hours.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will work closely with the senior staff and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining excellent clinical standards of clinical practice and staff development as part of the theatre team.
- As a member of the anaesthetic theatre team perform the tasks of anaesthetic assistant following all checks and procedures as laid down in National / Theatre Policy.
- As a member of the anaesthetic team perform the tasks of anaesthetic assistant and support other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff by acting as a mentor with the support of their senior colleagues.
- To take charge of the department when required to do so.
- The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and is required to demonstrate procedures, supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment.
- To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified as appropriate to knowledge and training.
