Locum Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology and GIM

Fixed Term - 3 Months

Main duties of the job

The post will deliver general medicine, diabetes and endocrine care and has been created to support the wider working of the Department as integrated vascular services continue to develop. This is an excellent opportunity to join a first class team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment.

The post will involve working with existing members of the Consultant team and wider MDT to provide general and specialist services. The role will include participation in the GIM rota and community working.

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years) and therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Essential

  • Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practise.
  • On GMC Specialist Register or within six months to attaining CCT in diabetes and endocrinology or equivalent

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Fully trained in Diabetes, Endocrinology & Acute Medicine
  • Excellent clinical skills and experience requisite to meeting all aspects of the Job Plan
  • Experience in managing complex patients multidisciplinary team working and apply sound clinical judgement to problems
  • Demonstrates clear, logical thinking/analytical approach

Desirable

  • Evidence of clinical or research/audit commitment and a relevant speciality interest
  • Experience of working with acute complex diabetes and endocrinology disorders

Clinical Skills

Essential

  • Ability to manage all the typical cases seen in inpatient and outpatient adults in diabetes, endocrinology and GIMone and endocrine service.
  • Ability to independently perform and interpret complex endocrinology investigations
