Job summary
This is a 6-month secondment post as, due to promotion, our colleague deputy diabetes specialist nurse has left this (previously 12-month) post early .
The post holder will be provided with support and training to develop their knowledge and clinical skills to provide care to patients with diabetes autonomously.
The post holder will work in a dynamic and supportive diabetes team and will be responsible for the assessment, planning andprovision of specialist diabetes nursing advice, and carrying out specialistnursing procedures.
The post holder will ensure the safety and well being of services users, andalways work in a manner that promotes person-centered care principles.

Main duties of the job
To facilitate a high quality, cost effective specialist service through monitoring, audit and other quality initiatives agreed by the Trust.
To support and participate in education and training programmes (e.g. DESMOND) and develop training packages as required.
To act as mentor/assessor to unqualified staff and to provide education, advice and support to community nurses.
