Two very exciting Apprenticeship Clinical Technologists opportunities have become available in our Medical Equipment Management Services (MEMS) and Radiation Equipment Servicing (RES)in the Medical Physics Department at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT).
The MEMS Section supports a vast array of medical equipment based around the latest technology throughout both of our hospital sites and in the community. The RES section maintains and repairs radiotherapy treatment machines (Linacs) which are used to treat people with cancer.
Main duties of the job
Would you be interested in learning electrical and electronic engineering skills? Would you be interested in applying these skills to healthcare and to improve patient treatment at one of the UK's most prominent hospitals?

This post would be ideally suited to an applicant able to motivate themselves from an interest in getting involved in the operations and productivity of an acute hospitals trust and having a concern for the quality of support delivered to frontline clinical services.
Successful applicants will also need to be able to occasionally work flexibly outside conventional working hours; where such demand arises.

As an apprentice, you will receive on-the-job training and experience. You will work across both teams for agreed periods, assisting in repair and maintenance of advanced medical equipment.
The successful applicant will be funded to undertake a Level 2 Diploma, leading to a Level 4 Diploma if successful, in Clinical Engineering.
The apprenticeship is fixed term training contract lasting for 18 months, with the expectation of extension for a further 2 years to complete Level 4. The entry requirement for the apprenticeship is 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 minimum (must include maths and English, and a science or technology subject), or other equivalent qualification (you will need to show us your qualification certificates before appointment). There will be a gateway assessment after 1 year, which the apprentice will need to pass in order to continue on the programme.
