BAND 8B PRINCIPAL RADIOTHERAPY PHYSICIST - (Deputy Head Of Brachytherapy)
We are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated radiotherapy physicist who will act as deputy head of brachytherapy physics, as well as contributing to research and development in this area. Please note post is 0.9WTE.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will come into contact and liaise with a wide range of staff in Medical Physics, Radiotherapy and across the Trust and regional network partners, as well as with external equipment manufacturers and service suppliers.
This will include working closely with consultant and junior medical staff, therapy radiographers, senior nurses, clinical nurse specialists, allied health professionals, general managers, works staff, and administrative and clerical support staff.

Qualifications
Essential
- Good (1st or 2nd class) honours degree in a relevant subject
- Relevant MSc or higher degree
- Qualified to act as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) in radiotherapy
- State registration as a Clinical Scientist
Desirable
- Full Member of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (or equivalent)
Experience

- Substantial responsible experience post registration working in radiotherapy physics
- Advanced post registration specialist experience in a relevant major area of radiotherapy physics

- Experience of involvement in original peer-reviewed radiotherapy research
- Supervision of small project teams
Knowledge & skills

- Highly developed specialist knowledge across the full range of working procedures and practices in radiotherapy physics
- Advanced knowledge in a major area of radiotherapy physics such as external beam treatment planning, radiotherapy equipment, imaging, dosimetry or brachytherapy
- High level of understanding of patient and staff risks arising from treatment planning computer system errors, equipment failure, treatment errors and incorrect dosimetry
- Able to present scientific papers at local, national and international meetings
