BAND 8C CONSULTANT CLINICAL SCIENTIST RADIOTHERAPY PHYSICS - (Head Of Brachytherapy)
We are looking to recruit an experienced radiotherapy physicist who will take managerial responsibility for brachytherapy activities within the section. Please note post is 0.9WTE.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will come into contact and liaise with a wide range of staff in Medical Physics, Radiotherapy and across the Trust and regional network partners, as well as with external equipment manufacturers and service suppliers.
This will include working closely with consultant and junior medical staff, therapy radiographers, senior nurses, clinical nurse specialists, allied health professionals, general managers, works staff, and administrative and clerical support staff

Essential
- Extensive experience applying advanced and practical techniques to relevant areas of radiotherapy physics
- Significant previous experience acting as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) in radiotherapy
- Experience of introducing advanced radiotherapy techniques into clinical service
- Experience in project and people management
Desirable
- Track record of involvement in original peer-reviewed radiotherapy research
- Evidence of working at regional or national level in Radiotherapy Physics
Knowledge & skills
Essential
- Advanced level of knowledge across the full range of working procedures and practices in Radiotherapy Physics
- Advanced understanding of patient and staff risks within radiotherapy
Desirable
- Good awareness of wider NHS organisation and procedures
Qualifications
Essential
- Good (1st or 2nd class) Honours degree in a relevant subject
- Relevant MSc or higher degree
- PhD, DClinSci or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Qualified to act as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) under IRMER in the field of radiotherapy
- HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist
