Job summary

Applications are being invited for an Assistant Director of Operations (band 8c) role to work with the Frontline Operations Teams on a secondment basis for 18 months. This role is an interim role following the recent move of the post holder to a secondment with an ICB.

We are looking for someone who has an in depth knowledge and experience of working within a senior operational leadership role, ideally within the Urgent and Emergency Care Operational team. There will be a requirement to have a thorough understanding of the U&E service as well as how the service links with external partners and agencies.

Main duties of the job

The ADO will report directly to the Executive Director of Operations and will have line management accountability for the Head of EPRR and Head of Community Engagement and training. The successful candidate will be responsible for all areas of operational delivery within their portfolio including delivery of the EPRR core standards, operational and clinical performance standards. They will be instrumental in leading the operational teams to deliver the financial savings within the directorate. The post holder must be passionate, ambitious and have the desire to influence at the very highest levels, both within the Trust and with partner organisations, and must have a clear vision of how this post will contribute to the achievement of the Trust and to support its values of Caring, Team working, Innovation and Professionalism.

  • Evidence of on-going professional development
  • Diploma level qualification in management skills or demonstrable equivalent level of experience

  • Experience of business planning, objective setting and performance management
  • Proven track record of working with complex groups of stakeholders across multi-disciplinary teams within the healthcare economy including formal presentations to these groups
  • Financial management acumen - using financial monitoring and control systems, evaluating competing budgetary priorities
