Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Pharmacy team. We have a brand new pharmacy department and are looking to expand services within the department. In this role you will have the opportunity to work with the Senior Pharmacy team to drive forward this expansion.

Main duties of the job

As a senior manager within South Central Ambulance Service, you will be required toprovide leadership to your team to ensure the effective provision of the service theyprovide and to champion change in the organisation. You will ensure that your staffare motivated and express a positive attitude towards the organisation. You willaddress any issues and concerns that may inhibit your staff from achieving both theirpersonal and organisational goals.

South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of emergency, urgent care and non-emergency healthcare services, along with commercial logistics services.

The Trust delivers most of these services to the populations of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire as well as non-emergency patient transport services in Sussex.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. Lead the operational Pharmacy service and support the development of aPharmacy departmental strategy in accordance with service agreements andkey performance indicators to support SCAS and collaborative working partnerobjectives.2. Line manages the Pharmacy Technician and Support Worker team providingleadership on recruitment, sickness, disciplinary, appraisal and careerdevelopment.3. Responsible for long term planning and development of the operationalpharmacy service linked to stakeholders expected growth to ensure theservice can meet SCAS and external demands.4. Provide updates and ensure that service delivery is maintained.5. Monitor and analyse operational pharmacy workload and performance ofservice and identifying ways to ensure service resilience.6. Responsible for ensuring the pharmacy service adheres to the principles ofthe Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Professional Standards for HospitalPharmacy Services.7. Responsible for developing and maintaining Trust and departmental policiesand procedures related to the operational pharmacy service across the Trustand its service users.8. Responsible for ensuring the training, evaluation, and development as well asrobust risk management reviews are carried out for all roles.9. Responsible for maintaining and producing performance metrics for theoperational pharmacy service and presenting information to external stakeholders.10.Autonomously dealing with complaints, errors, and incidents, ensuring theyare reported and investigated, and reports or advice is provided as well asappropriate actions are taken promptly to prevent recurrence.11.Responsible for ensuring sufficient specialised pharmacy services aredeveloped in line with the Trusts growth and activity. Ensuring that pharmacy services keep pace with national agenda.13.Analyse highly complex data around KPIs and to assess the services ability todeliver planned and reactive services regarding capacity, specialist equipmentor facilities, identification of potential areas of growth and financial impact forthe Trust.14.Support the development and uses of current and emerging IT systems todeliver safe and effective Pharmacy services. Ensure subsequent appropriatetraining and dissemination of information across the Trust and other NHSorganisations.15.Support education and training across the Trust as and when required in linewith Pharmacy team.16.Represent the SCAS Pharmacy service at national and regional meetings toadvise on education, training, and leadership opportunities of shared roles.17.Maximise developmental opportunities for providing specialist services outsideSCAS.18.Deputise for the MHRA Responsible Person as and when required.
