Job summary

To ensure that all water systems on site are fully compliant with all aspects of current health and safety and water safety legislation and guidance.

To ensure that RBHFT Water Safety Policies and Guidance Notes are fully implemented and adhered to.

Manage the appointed sub-contractors, service providers and the in-house team of plumbers to deliver safe and compliant water quality testing, maintenance activities as well as reactive remedial works.

Ensure the Water Safety Plan is developed/maintained and Risk Assessments are regularly reviewed, updated and actioned as required.

Main duties of the job

Implement a Safe System of Work for water safety compliance across RBHFT estates portfolio.

Review and maintain Trust Water Safety Policy and Guidance Notes to comply with latest legislation, industry guidance, sustainability and operational requirements.

Write/review water safety risk assessments and implement the action plan

Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operatives, managers, contractors and users to work to.

Develop a water safety reporting pack and issue bi-weekly to the WSG on key elements of water safety operational activates, sampling results and compliance.

Issue 1/4ly strategic reports, analysing trends in sampling and water safety results in order to advice the WSG on strategic improvement to improve safety and compliance.

Produce a RAG rated H&S reporting pack for inclusion in H&S and Estates Compliance reporting.

Manage DATIX and Risk Register actions relating to Water Safety.

Manage action trackers, chairing weekly meeting with service providers, to ensure progress and compliance.

Work with the Estates Engineering Manager, hard FM contractors and Trust capital work team to implement remedial and capital investment works in accordance with Trust SFI policies.

Investigate serious incidents and breaches in compliance relating to water safety, working alongside patient safety and risk management teams to analyse root cause analysis and implement recommendations.

As the RP Water, take full responsibility for implementing the Water Safety Plan at RBFT

Maintain the Trust CAFM system with an up-to-date asset list and plan the associated PPM tasks

Take primary responsibility for managing the Trust water safety Zeta Safe CAFM system.

Work with the Trust sustainability lead to adopt improvement measures to meet agreed targets.

Assess industry innovations and new technologies for adoption at RBHFT, to reduce water consumption and continuously improve efficiencies of service and revenue costs.

Continually review of Water Safety Risk Assessments and written schemes to eliminate and mitigate risks.

Liaise with authorities such as the Environment Agency, HSE and supply authorities relating to address enquiries and issue reports as required.

Monitor borehole consumption to ensure abstraction limits are not exceeded, implementing remedial actions as required.

Collate, monitor and report on estates water meter readings, to ensure water consumption is minimised and water tank turnover is maintained.

Support Capital Investment project managers to soft-land projects and minor works into operational assets via the WSG.
