Band 3 Nuclear Medicine specialist receptionist and Radiation Protection Administrator

**This is a fixed-term post for 7 months to cover maternity leave.**

This position is split 50/50 between the Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Protection Departments:

  • In Nuclear Medicine you will be manning the specialism reception dealing with patients and facilitating their pathway. There are administrative duties too.
  • In Radiation Protection there is administration including booking visits and updating the databases and organising workflows.

Main duties of the job

In Nuclear Medicine:

  • Act as part of team tracking medical records, answering queries and arranging patient appointments/ admissions where necessary. Extensive use of electronic patient record system (EPR) and other associated systems.
  • Responsible for providing non-clinical advice to patients and relatives as and when required as far as scheduling appointments is concerned.
  • To be responsible for cooordinating non-radioactive stock control and departmental ordering and purchasing systems in line with Trust procurement policies.
  • Use of the procurement systems for ordering and invoicing external sites, departments and suppliers.

In Radiation Protection:

  • To manage and organise the QA schedule kept on an Excel spread sheet, matching staff availability from Outlook to the equipment requirements.
  • To maintain and update the training database, ensuring the integrity of the data issue of certification. Provide summaries of training provided.
  • Schedule staff training sessions, including booking rooms as necessary, invite the trainees and answer queries.
  • The RP team provide the secretariat function to the Trust Radiation Protection Committee (RPC) and the responsibilities are to ensure smooth running of the RPC.
  • Take part in, and minute the RP Departmental monthly meetings.
