Senior Staff Nurse (West Ward - Haematology) - Band 5/6 (depending on experience)
The Haematology department is looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking, and motivated nurse to join our team as a Band 5 Staff Nurse OR Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse depending on experience.
The successful applicant without any haematology background will be appointed as Band 5 Staff Nurse to undertake the SACT training and then be uplifted to a Band 6 on completion of the training and competencies.
You will work as a skilled practitioner and be responsible for delivering patient-focused programmes of care that address the complex and changing health and well-being needs of patients with haematology-related conditions.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide high quality essential care to patients with haematology conditions in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner.
The post holder will:
- Provide high-quality clinical practice. Be proactive in clinical decision making, underpinned by theoretical and practical knowledge and be able to demonstrate improved patient care outcomes.
- Take designated responsibility for discrete areas of operational management/clinical practice.
- Support change, monitor and improve standards through supervision, evidence-based practice, clinical audit, research, and education. To promote and demonstrate best practice by integrating evidence into practice.
- Undertake holistic assessment of patients and carers' needs. This will involve planning, implementing, and evaluating care delivery in response to changing healthcare needs.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge in relation to patterns of Haematology service, markers of condition progression and the range of treatment available at each stage of the condition.
