Job summary

We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 nurses with excellent communication skills, who relish the challenge of working within a neurosciences speciality.

The Acute Stroke Unit is a specialist unit that admits patients with acute stroke, direct from the emergency department. We specialise in caring for hyperacute, Level 2 critical care patients as well as acute stroke patients.

We are one of the fastest thrombolysing units in the country and consistently score an A rating on SSNAP.

Our annual turnover of patients' range between 900-1000 patients a year, resulting in a busy, hyperacute unit that is well established and focused on providing excellent patient care.

We believe in your ongoing educational and career development and you will be actively encouraged to further your educational pathway with support from our practice educators and senior nurses.

We work closely as part of a wider MDT, promoting multi-disciplinary working.

We have strong links with research and development and have recently been awarded Accreditation from the Research department at Reading University.
