Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust

ENT CESR Fellow

The closing date is 11 November 2025

Job summary

The post holder will work as a middle-grade in the ENT department. Service needs in the form of Surgeon of the Week cover and out-of-hours cover will be included. Elective clinics and supervised operating sessions will support training requirements. An office base with secretarial and administrative support will be provided.

Main duties of the job

This post is to join a well-established and ambitious department driving forward new models of patient care. The job will mainly be based between the Royal Berkshire Hospital and Townlands Memorial Hospital; with potential satellite clinics in Bracknell or Newbury.

The post requires general ENT skills and experience with the ability to provide middle-grade emergency cover out of hours, at a current frequency of 1 in 12 (subject to change). There is a requirement to be within 30 minutes of the hospital during these periods, to allow timely attendance in cases of emergency.

The department operates a 'Surgeon of the Week' (SOW) model of in-hours acute ENT care. The appointee will join the SOW rota along with the ENT Consultants and other CESR posts within the department, with a requirement to perform SOW on a 1 in 4 frequency (subject to change).
