Job summary

An exciting opportunity is available for a Pathology Research Biomedical Scientist to gain experience and skills working on a range of clinical research studies in our Pathology department. You will play a key role in supporting the conduct and delivery of high-quality clinical research, as well as working with clinical investigators and research teams in the delivery of National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) studies. The candidate is expected to contribute to the service in the biochemistry laboratory as per the service level contract.

This post would suit an enthusiastic individual who is ready for a challenge and keen to undertake further training and development or individuals who wish to consider a career in clinical research.

The candidate would be joining a laboratory at the forefront of the national Modernising Pathology agenda and strong personal development , and professional strategy.

Main duties of the job

Liaising and co-ordinating with the research teams to streamline Pathology's involvement in trials

Assist and manage study set up

Co-ordinate processing of clinical trial samples

Review research proposals disseminate relevant laboratory requirements and assess feasibility.

As appropriate, to create Standard Operation Procedure (SOPs)

Liaison with all stakeholders to finalise/approve pathology's involvement in clinical trials.

Contribute to the service provision in Biochemistry lab after receiving appropriate training.

In addition, you will:

Demonstrate good organisational and communication skills.

Demonstrate motivation and enthusiasm

Be able to manage your time and work with minimum supervision.

Be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access etc.)

Be willing to work flexibly in terms of hours and duties to meet research service needs.

Have the ability to integrate with a number of teams in order to achieve set objectives.

Assists in the effective induction, mentorship, support and development of new staff, students and more junior colleagues.

Research experience would be an advantage but is not essential as training will be provided but background in biochemistry is essential.
