Job summary
The post holder will help support the Infant Team Lead, in developing, supporting and influencing infant feeding practice within the hospital/community environments. They will support the Infant Feeding Lead in the implementation of UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) across the trust maternity and neonatal service and in line with the RBFT Infant feeding strategy
Main duties of the job
The post holder will help support the Infant Team Lead, in developing, supporting and influencing infant feeding practice within the hospital/community environments. They will support the Infant Feeding Lead in the implementation of UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) across the trust maternity and neonatal service and in line with the RBFT Infant feeding strategy
The post holder will work independently providing care and support to women on infant feeding. They will be expected to supervise and guide less experienced staff. They will support women under the supervision of midwives in the Infant Feeding clinics and provide assistance in the Frenulotomy clinic. Part of the role will be to conduct audits led by the Infant Team Lead on BFI standards and carry out some administration tasks. The role will also involve responding to referrals to the infant feeding service and the promotion and protection of Baby Friendly Standards within the maternity team.
The post holder will be responsible for supporting with care planning and management of feeding issues and disseminating and modelling best practice in Infant Feeding.
