Job summary

It is an exciting time to be joining our team in the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) at the Royal Berkshire Hospital with great career opportunities.

.AMU is an emergency medical admissions unit providing assessment of patients requiring immediate investigations, stabilisation and treatment. We are expanding our nursing establishment as we have increased our bed base to 53 beds, which includes a refurbished larger 6 bedded Higher Monitoring Unit (HMU).

There are 3 Practice Educators that work within the units to provide supervised practice, additional skills training and support. We have advanced developmental passports which are competency based to support your learning for both AMU and HMU. We are happy to recruit newly qualified nurses, as well as, experienced nurses. We offer career opportunities for nurses developing advanced skills in critical care and Advanced Nurse Practitioner rotational posts into our Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder is responsible for undertaking and recording acomprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivering and evaluatinghigh standards of evidenced based nursing care to a diverse group ofpatients.

Is expected to deliver care without direct supervision. Is accountable forthe care delivered and any omissions of care.

Is expected to teach and supervise more junior staff, students and the nonregistered nursing workforce.

Is accountable for care or any omissions of care that he/she delegates toothers
