Ward Sister - Windsor Dialysis Unit - Band 7

We have an exciting opportunity in Windsor Dialysis Unit which is in the Heart of Royal Windsor Berkshire area. We are looking to recruit a Band 7 Ward Manager in Windsor Dialysis Unit.

Windsor Dialysis unit is a 24 station dialysis unit for Haemodialysis also including consultation clinic on the unit. We have an established multicultural team of nurses, health care assistants, Renal Consultant and registrar supporting the unit.

We are looking for a dynamic Leader who is both passionate about creating a strong team ethos and environment; working to the trust behaviours and values and committed to driving excellence in clinical care and patient outcomes.

The senior management team would welcome applications from individuals who feel they can meet the demands of leading a team in this specialist clinical area; and bring a dynamic and forward thinking approach. In order to support your development, you would be supported by the Lead Nurse and Matron for Integrated Medicine A.

The successful applicant would need relevant experience in Haemodialysis and have excellent levels of communication and interpersonal skills.

Main duties of the job

  1. Manage people and financial resources to ensure the effective operation of the team for which he/she is responsible.
  2. Allocate work and assess performance of the team members objectively against set criteria/competencies.
  3. Demonstrate excellent personal communication.
  4. Be responsible for the standard of nursing care delivered in work area.
  5. Be responsible for the standards of cleanliness in the clinical area and for a well-maintained Ward/Department environment.
  6. Prioritise workload to meet targets.
  7. Be responsible for ensuring the clinical area practices within Data Protection/Confidentiality /Caldicott principles.
  8. Actively promote diversity, including race diversity, both in the delivery of the Directorate's services and in the recruitment, management and development of staff within the clinical area.
  9. Promote interdisciplinary working, with outcomes aimed at the best interest of patients.
  10. Demonstrate experience in dialysis.
  11. Work with Lead Sister/Lead Charge Nurse, utilising the umbrella of Clinical Governance to maintain/improve and develop high standards of patient care.
  12. Practices in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council's Code: Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses and midwives and Trust policies, protocols and guidelines.
  13. Promote/develop and maintain a culture amongst practitioners.
  14. Contribute to the implementation of the development of the service. Be aware of new evidence and research in both general and specialist fields.
