Clinical Nurse Specialist - Rheumatology

The Rheumatology Team have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team working to improve the safety, experience and outcomes for patients in Royal Berkshire Hospital. This post offers the opportunity to have a real impact on the independence and confidence in patients in Royal Berkshire. A passion for admission prevention is a must for this position.

We are looking for:

  • An individual who is confident in teaching colleagues/patients. Sharing knowledge with patient's and colleagues is an important part of the job, so confidence and good interpersonal skills are key.
  • Someone who is interested in continuing their learning and willing to work towards History taking and Prescribing. A candidate who is committed to staying up to date on research/guidelines.
  • A candidate who has a high standard of spoken and written English. Experience in working with audits and research would be desirable.

Main duties of the job

The CNS will be able to direct and support staff in their clinical roles to promote a service which prevent unnecessary or unscheduled hospital admissions. They will also be responsible for all aspects of the leadership, development and management of the rheumatology nurses.

They will be managing the rheumatology service remote monitoring (DAWN), telephone and face to face clinic.

They will initiate patient education, training and telephone advice.

They will be proactive in promoting a positive image of Rheumatology department working closely with the organisation, integrated teams, key stakeholders and partners. They will promote a service which works within local and national directives.
