Job summary

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Emergency Department Matron to join our team to cover maternity leave for a year starting June 2025.

They will be expected lead the delivery of exceptional care for children and adults within our ED. This senior nursing role will oversee clinical excellence, patient safety, and staff wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

Provide strategic and operational leadership for Emergency Department nursing services.

Ensure the highest standards of patient care, safety, and experience.

Act as a professional role model, mentoring and supporting nursing staff.

Lead quality improvement initiatives and clinical governance processes.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, patient-centred care.

Manage workforce planning, recruitment, and staff development.

About You:

We are looking for an experienced nurse leader with:

Current NMC registration (Registered Nurse).

Substantial post-registration experience in Emergency Medicine, including leadership and operational roles.

Strong knowledge of clinical governance, patient safety, and service improvement.

Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.

A passion for delivering outstanding care to the local community and patients within the Emergency Department.
