About us

At RBH we value our trainees and junior doctors. We lead the way in organisational structure at training level and in other aspects including exception reporting and junior doctors' forums. We have excellent feedback for our FY3 posts and previous FY3s have succeeded in getting the training posts they applied for.

In 2020, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated us as 'Good' overall and 'Outstanding' in Outpatients and diagnostic imaging.

The hospital achieved Foundation Trust status on 1st June 2006. It was the first Foundation Trust in the South Central Strategic Health Authority. The Trust is one of the largest general hospital Trusts in the country and is Reading's biggest employer.

The hospital provides all those services normally associated with a very large District General Hospital. The hospital provides services on a single site for all the major specialities including Accident and Emergency, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Intensive Care, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Genitourinary Medicine, Ophthalmology, ENT, Maxillo-Facial surgery, paediatrics (including a NICU), general medicine (including all major medical specialities including CCU, Renal Unit, ITU and gastroenterology), radiotherapy and oncology, and all the general surgical specialities.
