Job summary
This split post offers candidates the opportunity to gain experience in Intensive Care medicine and emergency medicine within a busy district general hospital. It also offers dedicated time for helping to develop the simulation training program and teaching materials.
Main duties of the job
This job would be ideally suited to individuals who are committed to or investigating a career in Intensive Care Medicine (ICM) or wider acute care specialities. About us
Clinical and Educational supervision will be provided by Dr Mike Raffles and Dr Joshua Moorhouse; consultants in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine. Dr Moorhouse and Dr Raffles are both experienced clinicians and have a range of experience in teaching and training.
The ICU hosts an in-situ multi-disciplinary education and simulation training program which consistently receives excellent feedback from trainees and nurses. Part of the role is engaging and taking a pro-active lead within this program.
Successful applicants would be supported in completing a postgraduate qualification in medical education should they wish to. We also have access to a newly built bespoke simulation suite within Reading University to enhance learning opportunities.
The prospective candidate would work 70% of their time on the ICM rota and 30% of their time helping to develop the simulation and education programmes.
