Band 2/3 Healthcare Assistant (Theatres - Eye Day Bed Ward)
This post is based at Prince Charles Eye Unit, King Edward VII Hospital, St Leonards Road, Windsor, SL4 3DP - and attracts a Fringe payment of of 5% of gross basic salary.
**This is a part-time post for 30 hours per week.**
This is an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our team at the Prince Charles Eye Unit, King Edward VII Hospital in Windsor.
The Adult Eye Day Bed Ward comprises of 14 day chairs, 3 recovery beds and 2 eye operating theatres.
We are open Monday to Friday 07:30-18:00.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who has an interest in a career in operating theatres and would like to gain experience within Ophthalmology specialities.
You should have a desire to provide compassionate support and care for patients under going eye surgical procedures.
Good communication skills, a caring nature, a flexible approach and enthusiasm to work with us are essential, together with a willingness to learn and develop.
Previous experience is desirable but not essential, as successful applicants will receive a comprehensive induction on commencing the post.

Main duties of the job
How to join us:
There are three pathways to join us as a Healthcare Assistant, designed to welcome candidates with different backgrounds and experiences - shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview via one of the following three pathways:
Band 3 Healthcare Assistant - Pathway 1If you already hold a Care Certificate, we encourage you to provide a copy of your certificate, and you will be invited to interview for a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant position.
Band 2 Healthcare Assistant (Development) - Pathway 2If you have achieved a grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in GCSE Maths and English and can provide copies of your certificates, you will be invited to interview for a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant (Development) position.
Band 2 Healthcare Assistant (Development) - Pathway 3If you do not meet the criteria for pathways 2 and 3, you will be invited to participate in one of our assessment centres, where we will assess your numeracy, literacy, listening, and IT skills. Successful candidates will then be invited to interview for a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant (Development) role.
All candidates appointed to a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant (Development) role will be required to complete the Care Certificate and progress to a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant position within their first 6 months of service.
