Senior Orthodontic Nurse - Part time 24.5 h/w - Internal Only
The post holder is responsible for ensuring high quality nursing care within all clinics and clinics providing intravenous sedation. This will include all systems of clinical governance/audit and training of dental nurses where appropriate. In addition, Senior Sedation Dental Nurse provides leadership and guidance to the junior Dental Nurses, supervise Trainees and act as a tutor/mentor for all new staff. Co-ordinate these centres in collaboration with the Department Manage.
The post holder will work as an effective team leader, assisting in the management and organisation of work in a specialist area, displaying effective communication skills although cross working will be expected.
Main duties of the job
- Actively promote team and interdisciplinary relationship, demonstrating good personal communication, team leadership, establishing and maintaining effective communication with individuals/groups about difficult and complex issues.
- To be responsible for a specialist team within the Department reporting to the Department Manager or her Deputy as appropriate.
- To be responsible for the maintaining and ordering of equipment and supplies for sedation clinics, ensuring that purchases are within the designated budget and ordered in a timely fashion.
- To be responsible for ensuring that the decontamination of the equipment is maintained, including the tracking of instrument to the decontamination unit so that a continuous supply of instrument is affected to ensure the smooth running of the clinics, and the purchase of replacement instruments when required.
- Actively promote diversity, including race diversity, both in the delivery of the Directorate's services and in management and development of staff within the clinical areas. Assists with the Team and Department Manager to sustain relationships that promote dignity, rights and responsibilities. Identify and take action to address discrimination and oppression.
- Ensure own practice complies with Data Protection/Confidentiality/Caldicott principles.
