Band 4 Dental Nurse (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontic Department)
**This is a fixed-term post for 12 months to cover maternity leave.**

We provide acute medical and surgical services to Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking, proactive and highly motivated Allied Health Professional Dental Nurse within our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics Department.
This department offers Consultation clinics, Oral surgery and Orthodontic treatments from Monday to Friday.
Applications are welcome from Registered Dental Nurses with experience working clinically within the specialty.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for undertaking and recording a comprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivering and evaluating high standards of evidenced based nursing care to a diverse group of patients - main duties include:
o Work alongside the Consultants and Specialty Doctors to deliver treatment required.
o Support new members of staff, work experience students and agency staff.
o Act as role model, delivering care with empathy and compassion as part of a multidisciplinary team.
oPrepare the surgeries, including preparation of instruments, materials and equipment required for all surgical/ orthodontic procedures.
oWork alongside Consultants and Specialty Doctors with surgical procedures both under local and general anaesthesia.
o Attend wards and ED when required with Consultant or Specialty Doctor and assist with any procedure necessary should the need arise.
o Provide four handed dentistry throughout patient's treatment where Act upon clinician requests whilst providing chair side assistance.
o Communicate and coordinate effectively with appropriate clinicians, staff, professional bodies and external agencies.
oTo give patient and/ or patients' relative (or representative) verbal and written instructions prior to and following any Max Fax or Orthodontic procedures.
