Band 7 Advanced Orthoptist
**This is an acting-up opportunity for 9 months to cover maternity leave.**
The post holder is a highly skilled and experienced orthoptist or optometrist who, acting within his / her professional boundaries, provides comprehensive, high quality ophthalmic services as an autonomous practitioner, and work as an effective member of the cross-county Orthoptic and Optometry team in the assessment, diagnosis and management of patients attending the eye unit.
The Advanced Specialist Practitioner is also responsible for a sub-specialist area within the service.
Main duties of the job
You will work autonomously but within Trust and HCPC/GOC policies, protocols and guidelines, demonstrating safe, clinical decision-making, high levels of critical thinking and holistic practice.
The post will involve cross-county working, including sessions at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading and Prince Charles Eye Unit in Windsor, as well as the requirement to work in Bracknell, Thatcham and Henley-on-Thames as required.
