Job summary

INTERNAL ONLY

  • The postholder will have line management responsibility for the satellite Radiology service based at West Berkshire Community Hospital (WBCH), which is a subsection of the RBFT Radiology Department
  • The post holder will have responsibility for the daily operational management and patient pathways in CT.
  • They will have delegated responsibility for human and financial resources and for the day to day operational management of the service
  • The postholder will have a lead role in the strategic development of the local service, in conjunction with the ADR and Medical Lead. They will ensure that all developments align with the overall objectives of the Radiology Department and with the wider Trust strategy for spoke services
  • The postholder will act as a State Registered Radiographer and will participate in the provision of imaging services to a diversity of patient presentations
  • They will be a role model for the profession and will have delegated responsibility for staff induction, training and development
  • The postholder will be required to represent the Radiology Service at local meetings and to liaise effectively with stakeholders
  • The postholder will exercise autonomy within professional and managerial boundaries

Main duties of the job

  1. Monitors the performance of staff working in own area of responsibility against set competencies, rectifying any errors and reporting to the ADR or DMR as necessary
  2. Undertakes the first stages of performance management in line with Trust policy; escalates issues to the DMR as necessary
  3. Performs Return to Work interviews in accordance with Trust policy; undertakes first stages of absence management notifying the ADR or DMR of any issuesresponsibility; ensures these are up to date and stored confidentially.
  4. Participates in the recruitment and selection of staff within own area of responsibility; actively promotes diversity in the recruitment, management and development of staff.
  5. Is responsible for the management of annual leave within own area of responsibility via Optimise
  6. Is authorised signatory for overtime payments, on-call payments and expense claims for staff within own area of responsibility
  7. Contributes to strategic planning and service development in conjunction with the Medical Lead and ADR
  8. Ensures appropriateness and currency of documentation in own area of responsibility
  9. Represents the Radiology Service at local meetings and liaises with local stakeholders; provides an interface between the Department and services users.
  10. Participates in the provision of the X-Ray out-of-hours service at WBCH
  11. Leads the Quality Assurance equipment testing programme for own area of responsibility
  12. Plans and manages the rota for the WBCH out-of-hours X-Ray service
