Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly specialist cardiac physiologists within CRM to work in the friendly cardiac department at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, hardworking team player to join our close-knit busy team as a multi-skilled rotational member of the team based within the hub of the Royal Berkshire Hospital. The post holder will be expected to hold full BHRS accreditation or equivalent and be an independent practitioner performing and reporting a full range of CRM and cath-lab procedures to BHRS standards. We work in a well-equipped, modern and clean environment with an excellent history of training and great opportunities for development. Work a four-day week, with a fixed day off. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop their skills including management and expand their role within the department.

This is an ideal opportunity for a current band 7 seeking a change, or forward thinking suitably qualified Band 6 who is looking to develop their career further and gain BHRS qualifications.

We offer a range of specialised CRM services including physiology-led complex device clinics, remote clinics, CRT optimisation clinics and ICM implant service. Monthly CRM MDT meetings attended by devices consultants and all CRM physiologists. Regular training meetings, an opportunity for external training, and attending HRC meetings.

Main duties of the job

Summary of main duties involve:

  • The post holder will be invasive/ devices trained, independently performing and reporting to BHRS standards at Advance Specialist level in CRM.
  • Applicants must hold full accreditation with BHRS or equivalent and have relevant experience at a senior cardiac physiologist level
  • Independently practices with a high-level of skill and autonomy a wide range of other cardiac physiology procedures including 12 lead ECG, Holter application, Holter analysis and physiology-led ETT.
  • Invasive technical expertise will be expected in the catheter laboratories for coronary intervention, assisting in PCI, TPW and pacemaker implants

Provides effective day-to-day leadership and management of the cardiac physiology team

Triage and screen inpatient and outpatient Holter/ CRM referrals, liaising with referrers and screening out inappropriate requests in order to maximise the capacity of the service and provide a timely service for patients with the greatest clinical needs

Contribute to educational needs of the cardiology team, delivering practical and theoretical training and signing off of PTPs, cardiac STP program, ETP program and registrars

Participate in the primary PCI service 24/7 on-call rota

Occasional working at Satellite centres in the community within the trust
