Band 7 Advanced Nurse Practitioner Trainee

**All applicants must have a minimum of 2 years' Band 6 experience in a Surgical assessment unit and be prepared to complete their Masters in advanced nurse practitioner.**

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and committed professional to join our well established nursing team as an Advanced Nurse practitioner trainee.

The successful candidate will work on the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) at the Royal Berkshire hospital. The unit accepts a range of acute surgical referrals from GPs, ED, Paramedics and other specialities.

The service provides 24 hour cover, 7 days a week and the shift pattern reflects this.

The Surgical Advanced Nurse practitioner trainee will utilise advanced critical thinking and high levels of decision making and problem solving skill in the role of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care. You will work autonomously and have the freedom to exercise judgement about their actions.

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate will have post graduate qualifications in non-medical prescribing, history taking and assessment and diagnostic reasoning.

The role involves undertaking detailed assessments of patients and providing treatment alongside the surgical doctors and a team of nurses.

Also key to the role is to contribute to this evolving service by developing improved ambulatory patient pathways and delivering high quality, evidence based care as a senior nurse within SAU.
