Job summary

We are seeking an Employee Relations Advisor to join our friendly team in delivering a professional, high quality, comprehensive and proactive Employee Relations service across the Trust.

The role works alongside the Senior ER Advisors and ER Manager whilst managing their own casework; providing advice and guidance on all ER policies and a range of employment queries. This includes attendance at meetings, supporting and coaching managers on people management issues relating to conduct, performance, attendance and local and national terms and conditions, as well as administration of contractual changes and family leave. The ER team play a key role in helping to embed a resolution focus and just culture approach across the organisation.

Our ideal candidate will have knowledge of employment legislation and best practice and the ability to demonstrate relevant experience in the field of Human Resources or in a similar role, effectively interpreting people policies and providing advice and guidance to managers. This role provides great opportunities to gain in-depth ER experience and professional development in people management.

Our advisors operate across all levels of the Trust, so excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to work collaboratively and with a customer focussed and proactive approach, consistently demonstrating our Trust CARE Values (Compassionate, Aspirational, Resourceful and Excellent).

Hybrid working is available-attendance on-site would normally be expected 3 out of 5 days per week.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage own case work - providing Employee Relations (ER) advice and support to line managers in the investigation, presentation and resolution of ER issues (including conduct, performance and attendance). Ensuring consistent application of employment law and best practice
  • Provide ER advice and support to line managers on a wide range of issues working within ER policies and procedures, including organisational change issues, job evaluation, redeployment and equality and diversity
  • Work with line managers to problem solve and identify solutions to individual employee situations (flexible working, terms and conditions, family leave, grievances and bullying and harassment)
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and electronic record-keeping of ER activity related to own caseload
  • Positively promote the Trust's commitment to health and wellbeing and staff engagement
  • Provide ER advice on national/local terms and conditions seeking advice where necessary
  • Provide on-going coaching and development to line managers during all ER conversations/interventions increasing their confidence in dealing with ER issues
