Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Radiology Administration team with the creation of a service and performance manager post.

Main duties of the job

To assist the Directorate Manager to develop and deliver high quality patient/service, user-focused and cost effective pathways and services, meeting the requirements of our Commissioners and Trust's Annual Business Plan.

To assist the Directorate Manager in providing and developing a working environment and open culture, which fosters high morale and commitment among all staff and promotes their wellbeing, professional and personal development.

To provide administrative and business intelligence support to the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) Coordinator, supporting the establishment and further development of the CDC Programme.

To lead on the development and maintenance of a Radiology Dashboard, overseeing performance against defined KPIs for services across all sites

Job responsibilities

To monitor departmental activity against Key Performance Indicators, including those relating to the CDC Programme, communicating variances and trends to the Radiology senior management team in a timely manner.

To develop and have oversight of a Radiology dashboard; to lead on the development and monitoring of departmental KPIs, feeding into the Improving Together driver metrics for the service.

Supports the Directorate Manager and the CDC Coordinator as appropriate, in the strategic development and continuing improvement of services across all sites, including the CDCs.

To ensure delivery of excellent, patient focused and cost effective services, which are responsive to the needs of the patients, carers and GPs and are in line with the Trust strategic direction and service plans.

To lead on the delivery of diagnostic waiting times and Cancer Performance for the service, ensuring that the access policy is followed.

To be responsible for weekly reporting on diagnostic waiting times and Cancer Performance, supporting the Directorate Manager and Patient Pathway Manager in proactive capacity planning to ensure sustained achievement of the standards.

To assist the Directorate Manager and Radiology Senior Management team in ensuring the smooth and effective running of the Radiology Administrative Service, to include oversight of administrative functions at the CDC and other spoke sites.

To monitor achievements of quality standards, particularly performance standards and support initiatives to maximise throughput and minimise delays in clinical pathways in conjunction with the Directorate Manager and Associate Director, as appropriate.

To work with, and in support of, the Lead Radiographers in all aspects of service delivery including meeting access standards, waiting list management and delivery of the services activity plan.

To act as Lead Manager with the Patient Pathway Manager for scheduling and provide primary budget management for pay and non-pay within the services.

To ensure that the Services activities focus on supporting patient care within available resources and in line with the strategic direction of the Care Group and the Trust.

To set and review standards of inpatient and outpatient based services continuously, in line with the national performance standards, local contractual requirements, activity, and financial targets

To play an active role within the Directorate Management Team, participating in the full range of the Directorate tasks.

To manage the Patient Pathway Manager leading the Clinical Admin Team, ensuring they provide effective day-to-day management of the clinical administration service.

Deals with and responds to complaints as required in accordance with Trust policy, ensuring that any necessary remedial action is taken.

To ensure the efficient organisation of services, co-ordinating Consultant leave with the Directorate Manager and Clinical Lead in order to support the delivery of RTT, Diagnostic Waiting Time Standard, Cancer access standards, and local Quality Indicators.

To support the Directorate Manager and Associate Director to achieve QIPP/CIP targets and work with key stakeholders and partners to maximise the QIPP agenda.

To attend and participate in Directorate meetings and to represent the Directorate as required, deputising for the Directorate Manager as appropriate.

To attend relevant departmental meetings within the Trust to represent the Directorate and provide updates on various issues e.g. service delivery, HR issues, health and safety matters, security and estates issues.

As a member of the Directorate Management Team, support the Directorate Manager, Associate Director and Clinical Director to ensure that relevant performance standards are met.

To identify and lead change management and redesign projects to achieve access standards.

To undertake risk assessments for areas of responsibility and ensure that appropriate health and safety, fire, and other statutory regulations are adhered to.

To prepare or contribute to the preparation of business cases for service development, for submission both internally and externally as required.

To act as a departmental link for IT developments, in conjunction with the Radiology Systems Manager, with particular relevance to the development of the RadNet RIS system.

To support the Directorate in planning and scheduling capital developments.
