Associate Chief Allied Health Professional

The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust are very pleased to be recruiting for our newly created role of Associate Chief AHP.

You will work with the Chief Nursing Officer and senior corporate nursing team in providing strong, visionary leadership to the 11 allied health professions at the RBHFT.

The Assoc Chief AHP will provide strong visible professional leadership to the AHP workforce across the care groups which will enable delivery of compassionate, safe and high quality services to our patients.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the role:

  1. Represent AHP's and the Trust at local, system and national forums.
  2. Provide professional leadership to AHPs who lead services with a particular focus on quality and safety.
  3. Professionally lead on key patient experience, complaint and patient safety themes specifically relating to the AHP workforce in collaboration with AHP service leads.
  4. In conjunction with the CNO Safe Staffing Lead, provide professional leadership to the bi annual AHP trust wide safer staffing reviews.
  5. Support professional development and leadership, competence, capacity and standards of conduct directly leading to high quality, efficient patient care.
  6. Working with the Care Group Lead AHPs, develop strategies to reduce bank and agency usage in AHP posts by promoting a flexible and agile workforce, and implementing job planning methodology to services.
  7. Lead and provides strategic leadership oversight of the development and governance of the AHP workforce (NHSE and NHSI 2019).
  8. Ensure systems and processes in place to ensure AHP clinical and professional supervision is in place and monitored.
  9. Chair the AHP forum (currently co-chaired by AHP operational leads in addition to their usual roles of managing teams).

Essential

  • Registered AHP with the Health and Care Professionals Council or General Osteopathic Council (Active registration).
  • Masters Degree in relevant subject or evidence working at this level.
  • Management/Leadership qualification or proven track record in management/professional leadership role.

Aptitude and Skills

Essential

  • Detailed knowledge of how AHP's work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a complex patient pathway.
  • Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of government health and reform agenda.
  • Financial management, business and service planning skills.

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable consolidated experience in HCPC registered profession and senior AHP leadership.
  • Current sub-Board level AHP leadership in a health care environment in a clinical directorate.
  • Significant expertise of working with patient's/service users as a senior leader to improve their experience.
