This is opportunity for a registered Radiographer who is able to work autonomously and who wants to progress in this field.
This is a pivotal role in creating and maintaining a radiation safety culture across all members of staff within the department. Your knowledge and skills will support understanding of tlegal requirements and responsibilities involving IR(ME)R17 and IRR17 across the Trust and within the community.
The department was inspected by CQC IR(ME)R in August 2023 and we are proud of the report received. We are aiming to apply for QSI later this year and you will be key to supporting the Quality Manager through this process. You will work closely with the Radiology Management Team and support clinical teams in upholding safe systems of work.
This is a varied role where you are able to lead and manage various work streams to ensure compliance with regulations. We work in collaboration with our Medical Physics Department who are based on the Royal Berkshire site.
For the right candidate, there is opportunity to maintain clinical skills across various modalities and the option of hybrid working.

The post holder will take the lead role in ensuring compliance with legislation concerning Radiation across the Radiology Department
- They will be responsible for the development and currency of all IR(ME)R and IRR documentation and processes within the department, in conjunction with the Radiation protection Advisor (RPA) and Medical Physics Expert (MPE)
- They will act as IR(ME)R Coordinator for the department (including Bracknell Healthspace and Townlands Memorial Hospital
- They will support the IR(ME)R Coordinator at West Berkshire Community Hospital
- The post holder will provide professional leadership and management for the development, monitoring and evaluation of the quality, safety and effectiveness of radiation protection, to ensure high standards of safety and care for patients, visitors and staff
- They will be responsible for the auditing of referrers, both internal and external to the organisation, ensuring compliance with national & local legislation
- The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all NMR protocols are actively reviewed and updated when necessary.
- They will have delegated responsibility for the physical assets of the department, and will ensure currency and accuracy of the departmental asset register, in conjunction with Clinical Engineering (CE)
- The post holder will act as an experienced HCPC Registered Radiographer and will participate, as required, in the provision of imaging services to a diversity of patient presentations
- The post holder will exercise autonomy within professional and managerial boundaries, working to deliver defined results guided by national legislation and local policies and regulations
