Job summary

Band 4 Waiting List Officer (Endoscopy)

This is a fixed-term post for 12 months.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Waiting List Officer to join the Endoscopy team.

The successful applicant will be responsible for booking all Endoscopic procedures across our sites. This will require excellent communication with the Trust's Multidisciplinary Team, Consultants, and all supporting members of staff.

You will require a great understanding of the 18 week and 2ww rules, as well as the 31 and 62 day targets that we strive to deliver.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a driven individual who enjoys a fast-paced environment and can work well under pressure; the ability to prioritise and multi-task are key components of the job.

You will need excellent administration and customer service skills, be a team player and provide expertise in the proactive management of the patient pathways.

Previous work within a medical setting is an advantage.

A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be a member of a professional team that provides comprehensive, high quality inpatient and day case waiting list management services for the Trust.

Main duties include:

  • Adding/Removing/Dating patients on to the Patient Management System and electronic diaries ensuring patients are booked in compliance with the Patient Access Policy.
  • Communicating with patients and carers to arrange/modify/cancel appointments and informing relevant hospital staff to ensure efficient use of facilities.
  • The post holder will specialise in one waiting list area but must be able to manage a variety of others.
  • To identify and resolve potential breach situations.
  • To ensure efficient and optimal list utilisation to maximise service potential and delivery to patients
