Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust Financial Accounts team for a full time Band 7 Financial Accountant role on a 6 months secondment.

We are seeking individual who is self-motivated, pro-active and with excellent planning and organisational skills. The post holder is required to have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The job holder will be responsible for ensuring that financial information is recorded and produced accurately within agreed timescales and in accordance with financial procedures, and then to provide advice and guidance to Trust internal and external customers.

The job holder will also be responsible for producing the monthly management accounts of the Trust subsidiary, Healthcare Facilities Management Services Limited (HFMS) to the board.

Main duties of the job

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To work on own initiative in preparing and producing statutory accounts and monitoring returns on a monthly and annual basis for the Trust, in accordance with Trust and national timescales, policies and procedures.
  • To take lead and be responsible for specific and specialised areas of the Trust's accounts, in particular, control and balance sheet accounting, and to take responsibility for other areas in the absence of another Financial Accountant which the role works alongside.
  • To develop a depth of understanding of the pictures presented by the various reports & accounts produced, to be able to identify trends and underlying causes.

  • Specialist knowledge and expertise across one or more financial areas acquired through Professional Accountancy Study - or equivalent experience

Desirable
