Working as a member of the senior management team to support the establishment, maturation (and further evolution) of the West Berkshire Community Diagnostic Centre, leading and effectively implementing change management initiatives to deliver defined objectives
In conjunction with the Directorate Manager(s) (DM) to ensure on-going compliance with local and national performance standards / targets
To manage people and financial resources within WBCH Radiology department, as applicable to role
To lead and support the clinical performance of Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners, Radiology Department Assistants and Apprentices within WBCH Radiology department
To provide supervision and technical support to Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners and Radiology Department Assistants within WBCH Radiology department
In conjunction with the DM and modality Leads, to ensure appropriateness and currency within WBCH Radiology department departmental policies and procedures, initiating changes as necessary
The postholder will have a lead role in the strategic development of the service at within WBCH Radiology department, in conjunction with the Associate Director, DM's and Medical Lead, ensuring alignment with the overall objectives of the Radiology Department and with wider Trust / ICS strategy
The postholder will exercise autonomy within professional and managerial boundaries
Main duties of the job
- Acts as a role model for the profession;
- Oversees deployment / rostering of staff as necessary to ensure minimum staffing levels are maintained
- Supports the Lead Radiographer for WBCH in the management of matters relating to sickness absence, conduct, performance and capability.
- Oversees the delivery of the Trust appraisal process; performs staff appraisals
- Supports the recruitment and selection of staff up to and including Band 7 within WBCH Radiology department;
- Oversees the management of annual leave and absence via Optimise,
- Participates and coordinates the evaluation, procurement and implementation of new equipment
- Undertakes the investigation of complaints, incidents and Datix reports as required;
- Works in conjunction with the Directorate Manager(s) and WBCG Lead in ensuring that the serviced is fully risk managed and that appropriate Infection Prevention & Control processes are in place
- Oversees the preparation and review of Local Emergency Evacuation Plans (LEEPs);
- Contributes to the strategic development and continuing improvement of clinical services,
- Works with stakeholders external to Radiology in the development of new ways of working,
- Works in conjunction with the Radiology Quality Manager to support the attainment of and on-going compliance with Quality Standards for Imaging (QSI) Accreditation
- Is responsible for efficient use of resources.
