Job summary

Ethnic Minority Aspiring Senior Leadership Secondment Programme

We are committed to ensuring that at the RBFT, our leadership is representative of our wider workforce. With around 28% of our total workforce identifying as from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, but only around 14% of our senior leadership identifying as so - we still have some way to go.

To support our commitments, we are now recruiting to the second cohort of our Ethnic Minority Aspiring Senior Leadership Secondment Programme.

Main duties of the job

Four opportunities are available to work alongside senior trust leaders supporting the leadership of a service area and associated programmes of work. Secondments are available working in the following areas:

  1. Elective Recovery
  2. Integrated Medicine B (which covers sexual health, dermatology, pain, rheumatology, diabetes & endocrine and Haematology).
  3. Safeguarding and Safety & Compliance
  4. Pathology and Pharmacy
  5. Acute Medicine

Further details of each placement are available in the enclosed Placement Opportunity Detail Sheet.

Alongside the practical experience, learning, networking and exposure to senior roles gained, the secondment comes with a range of Learning and Development support - including Action Learning Sets, psychometrics, 360 Leadership Feedback and a development portfolio. Candidates will also complete an improvement project as part of the secondment

This opportunity will be a 2 day a week secondment for a period of 6 months. All applicants will require support from their line manager prior to applying.

There will be no amendment to salary; applicants will continue to be paid at their substantive pay rate during the secondment period.

We welcome applications from staff identifying as from ethnic minority backgrounds, clinical or non-clinical currently working in Band 6, Band 7 and Band 8a roles. Please state your preferred secondment opportunity from those noted above in your application.

About us

Please be aware of the change to legislation from the 1st April 2022 which will require providers of CQC-regulated activities only employ individuals who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to roles where they have direct, face to face contact with patients and/or service users. By applying for a role at RBFT, you accept that should your application be successful, this may be a mandatory requirement of your role if it is deemed a 'direct-facing' role. Should you require further help or support with this, please contact our Recruitment Team.
