BAME Aspiring Matron and Manager Internship

Job summary

To proactively support, colleagues from a BAME background and give them the opportunity to work alongside a Matron or a Manager; with support from a Director of Nursing or Director of Operations for 6 months. The shadowing experience, the completion of a portfolio, and engagement with the developmental framework should empower candidates to apply for senior roles in the future.

This opportunity will be a 2 day a week secondment. All applicants will require support from their line manager to apply. There will be no amendment to your salary as this is a 6-month development internship opportunity. We welcome clinical and non-clinical Band 6, Band 7, and up to Band 8a to apply

Main duties of the job

  • Set goals for the 6-month internship with the placement manager and meet regularly to review them.
  • To assist the Manager and support Management team in ensuring the smooth and effective running of the Service.
  • Shadow the placement manager, learn the structure, function of the host team, and play an active, independent role within the team.
  • Shadow Care Group Board members and members of the executive board.
  • Assist in maintaining excellent standard of care for our patients.
  • Participate in the learning and development offer.
  • Complete a personal quality improvement project.

About us

Royal Berkshire Hospital is located in Reading, Berkshire. There are regular bus services from Town to the Hospital. Reading has a good transport network from London, Oxford and Buckinghamshire. Train services can be as frequent as every 15 minutes to and from London.
