Job summary

Applications are invited for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the Research and Innovation Finance Team. This is an exciting development opportunity for someone who is seeking to obtain a broad range of financial experience within a Clinical Research and Innovation arena.

The role will include assisting in the:

  • provision of comprehensive financial management support to all stakeholders of Clinical Research and Innovation (R&I) both within and outside the Trust.
  • maintenance and development of systems of monitoring R&I activity and expenditure, for the timely recovery of income and for all aspects of budgeting and budgetary control.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for candidates who have 2 or more A levels at Grade C or above (or equivalent) and 5 GCSE passes at Grade C/4 or above including Maths and English and are AAT qualified or hold an equivalent demonstrable qualification.

Alternatively, we are happy to consider applicants with demonstrable experience of financial management, costing and contracting processes and have Knowledge of Financial Governance arrangements and compliance with protocols for income recovery with respect to clinical research and innovation.

Previous NHS or research finance experience would be useful although the ability to demonstrate a good working knowledge of accounting procedures and processes together with an understanding of relevant accounting standards is more important.

Practical use of PC's and demonstrably good IT skills, including advanced Excel, are essential. Candidates should be self-motivated with effective organisational skills and work planning methods to work under their own initiative, to enable tight deadlines to be met. They must work well within a multi-disciplinary team, being articulate and confident to communicate both within the Trust and external Organisations.

A study package is available to candidates who wish to gain an AAT, CCAB or CIMA Qualification
