Job summary
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic experienced physiotherapist with an interest in respiratory physiotherapy to work at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. The post is a static role based within the respiratory medicine team.
The respiratory medicine team cover five respiratory wards and are responsible for supporting patients with physiotherapy intervention on acute non-invasive ventilation based on the respiratory support unit. You will get opportunities to enhance your respiratory assessment and treatment skills and develop strong clinical reasoning with a complex patient group right through a patient journey from presenting acutely to providing education to motivate and empower the patient with the long-term management of their condition.
In this post, you will work collaboratively alongside an integrated MDT to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Within this role you will continue to consolidate previous respiratory skills and get the opportunity work closely alongside other senior experienced members of the staff to enhance your learning and development.
At present, there are exciting developments happening within the team and the overall division that aim to maximise the service that we deliver to our patients to ensure that they are receiving the optimum standard of care.
Main duties of the job
The clinical activities within this role include:
Inpatient respiratory assessment and treatment of patients with chronic respiratory conditions.
Clinic based assessment working in respiratory outpatient clinics supporting patients with breathing pattern disorders and issues with airway clearance.
Supporting with the provision of care by the neuromuscular respiratory team within the inpatient and outpatient environment.
Pillars of Practice-Non-clinical development.
As a band 6 specialist physiotherapist you will continue to build on your clinical knowledge and skills but will also have opportunity to develop:
Leadership- through supporting the day-to-day management of the area, supervising, supporting and developing people, both within the team and students and improving your knowledge of the wider STH/NHS.
Quality improvement -through participation in service improvement and development projects within ATS and the ward teams.
Education skills through the provision of high-quality education both to members of Acute Therapy Services and the multi-disciplinary teams.
