The Infection Prevention and Control Team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Trust is looking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic nurses to join their expanding team. The successful post holders will work as part of a multi-disciplinary Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT) responsible for leading the programme to prevent and control healthcare associated infections (HCAIs) in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
They will be required to work principally at acute sites in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and to work collaboratively with colleagues whilst managing their own workload, supported by other members of the team.
Main duties of the job
To reduce preventable healthcare associated infections (HCAIs) and promote compliance by STHFT with the registration requirement for cleanliness and Infection Control. The department will also work with other stakeholders to minimise infection-related threats to business continuity. The department achieves this by:
- Providing support, advice and information to all grades of staff on the management of infected patients and other infection prevention and control issues.
- Producing Infection Prevention and Control policies and procedures through discussion with other members of the IPCT and other relevant personnel.
- Educating all staff on current evidence-based Infection Prevention and Control practices.
- Undertaking surveillance of infection in line with national mandatory targets to identify and target trends.
- Auditing Infection Prevention and Control practices.
- Supporting decontamination issues across STHFT.
- Providing infection prevention and control information and advice to patients, their families, and visitors within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust (STHFT)

- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
- Healthcare Diploma or equivalent
- To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
Desirable
- Post-registration qualification in Infection Control at Level 3 (Certificate in Infection Control or equivalent) or willingness to complete
- Bachelors Degree in health-related subject or equivalent
Experience

- Relevant experience working at AFC Band 5 (or equivalent) to include some experience within an acute NHS setting or comparable healthcare environment.
- Experience as Infection Prevention and Control Link Worker or able to demonstrate application of Infection Prevention and Control knowledge in clinical areas
