The Department of Immunology is seeking to recruit to the post of Biomedical Science Assistant - Higher Level. The successful individual will join a team in the department of Immunology on the NGH site.
The post holder will assist scientific staff in laboratory activities. This includes the receipt, pre- and post-analytical processing of samples, accurate data entry, carrying out simple laboratory duties and techniques to agreed protocols, maintenance, and monitoring of diagnostic equipment and to recognise any system failures and to report these to the registered BMS staff.
The post holder will be required to demonstrate a flexible approach to working hours and be willing to work flexible hours as required to support the department in maintaining its service commitments.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking an individual who can work with limited supervision , promote and maintain a high standard of relevant education training and can assist scientific staff in laboratory activities which includes the receipt, pre- and post-analytical processing of samples, performing simple laboratory duties and techniques to agreed protocols and the maintenance and monitoring of diagnostic equipment.
An individual who can deal with telephone enquiries and direct queries from Medical Staff, Nursing Staff and other Service Users and can take appropriate action as needed.
