Job summary
We are recruiting to a Locum Appointment of Service (LAS) post at ST1/2 level. This post has been created to support the CAR T cell programme as well as other lymphoid pathways.
The post holder will work closely with the Consultant team and other team members in the delivery of care to patients with malignant lymphoproliferative disorders. The post holder will carry out clinics as well as reviewing patients on the ward and daycase unit. There will be opportunity to perform bone marrow biopsies. Time will also be included for projects which may be service improvement or service evaluation related.
The post will commence on 21st July 2025 and the appointment will be for 1 year. The appointment will be at ST1/2 level (Nodal Point 03).
Successful completion of a Foundation 2 training programme in the UK or equivalent is essential. We require a minimum of 6 months experience working in the NHS in an NHS hospital in a substantive post and 3 months experience in acute medicine. An active interest in haematology as a subspecialty is essential.
MBBS or equivalent is essential. The post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise by the date of application is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a team of 5 other CT level doctors and up to 7 specialist haematology trainees covering haematology inpatients on wards O1, O2, P3 and P4 and the haematology day unit. On the Day Unit, the postholder's role will include assessment of patients with haematological disorders attending unwell, pre-chemo therapy checks, bone marrow lists, Hickman line removal. Duties may also include counselling /medical cover of stem cell donors. The postholder will assess patients with bleeding and thrombotic disorders presenting at the haemophilia centre as appropriate. Training for all of these roles will be provided in house and the appointee will undergo local induction.
The postholder will be expected to attend clinics (supervised by a consultant).
Supervision and senior review arrangements: The postholder will liaise with the relevant specialist trainees and Consultants regarding the care of their inpatients. On the day unit supervision will be provided by Dr Y Ezaydi (Associate Specialist in Haematology) Any work performed in the Therapeutic Apheresis Unit will be under the supervision of Dr K El-Ghariani (NHSBT Consultant)
CLINICAL DUTIES
The post holder will work closely with colleagues to provide safe and holistic patient care.
