Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative and self motivated individual to join our expanding pharmacy aseptic services/clinical trials team. The team at Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust comprises of approximately 500 pharmacy staff working across five sites and is one of the biggest pharmacy departments in the country.
Principal Technicians work with the Accountable Pharmacist, Chief Technician, and Specialist Pharmacists to ensure the CIVAS service is delivered efficiently, safely and meets or exceeds are relevant quality standards.
You will participate in the planning, organisation, provision and maintenance of the clinical trials service and to be part of the flexible working team in line with current departmental policies and procedures for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, current UK and EU legislation.
Principal Technicians act as role models and manage their own team of staff and therefore are expected to demonstrate excellent working knowledge of aseptic services, clinical trials and exhibit exemplary PROUD values.
As a Principal Technician you must be driven, enthusiastic, flexible and dependable. You are required to have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider MDT. Ideal candidates should be able to demonstrate leadership skills within a hospital pharmacy setting, as well as effective organisational and communication skills.
Main duties of the job
- Be responsible for the day to day management of aseptic dispensing services to maximise efficiency and product quality
- To deliver a quality aseptic dispensing service.
- To implement developments within aseptic services to meet the needs of the patient, and to work towards the standardisation of aseptic services Trust-wide.
- To develop, train and motivate staff ensuring they feel valued both for their contribution to the department and as individuals.
- Provide highly specialist technical expertise in the preparation of injectable medicines
