We have a number of exciting opportunities within the Cardiothoracic Theatres, Operating theatres and recovery teams for highly motivated Newly Qualified Operating Department Practitioners,
This is a joint advertisement between AOS and SYRS.
We cover a range of specialised areas with teams including:
- Cardiacs / Thoracic surgery
- Anaesthetics
- Arthroplasty and Trauma
- Emergencies NGH
- General Surgery (Including vascular, renal, endocrine, colorectal, HPB and Upper GI)
- Specialist (Including Spines, Spinal injuries, Foot and Ankle, Plastic hands ortho, Burns)
- Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Urology, Breast and Plastics
- Neurosurgery
- Ophthalmology
- Head and Neck
- Emergencies RHH
- PACU RHH
- TAU Cross site

We are a leading Trauma centre with over 50 theatres covering all major specialities providing 24 hour cover for both elective and emergency procedures. We provide top quality, modern facilities for the management of the patients surgical journey, enabling our multidisciplinary teams to work together to provide a high standard of care for patients across South Yorkshire and the Humber region.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will work within the department to provide the highest standards of patient care using research evidence-based practise.
- To perform the competencies of a registered theatre practitioner and in addition any competencies associated to the allocated specialities.
- Following training and experience the post holder will be required to support with the teaching and assessment of learners in department.
- The post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for patients undergoing theatre procedures within an individual theatre environment.
- Following training and experience the post holder may be required to run an individual theatre list and will accept responsibility for the delivery of care within their specialist area.
