Job summary

The purpose of this post is to utilise the patient administration and operational systems in the Trust to actively validate, track and manage the referral to treatment processes in a patients pathway and 18 week target. This includes providing an essential service across the Directorate for the provision and development of centralised support in key areas including 18 weeks and agreed KPIs.

This role will have the responsibility for monitoring targets across the Directorate thus supporting it in achieving its targets.

To escalate pathways to RTT team lead which are:-

Delayed due to insufficient clinical information to progress the patient's pathway.

Pathways that require an event or a scheduled event to be brought forward in line with their 18 week pathway.

Regular themes of errors in data entry against the patient pathways

Patients which are potentially long waiters

The pathway validation will be sourced from a variety of data sets, such as PTLs and KPIs. There may also be Ad Hoc queries or sampling of patient's data.

There may also be additional queries from the services around RTT rules or system usage.

Main duties of the job

In summary the post holder will have:

Hold intimate knowledge of the 18 week rule and local Trust Access Policy.

Experience of outpatient and inpatient workflows from a validation, correction and business as usual pathway progression.

Experience of clinical systems and referencing clinical documents and diagnostic results.

Actively correct and monitor incorrect pathways to ensure that patients are reflected at the correct weeks wait at all times.

Work effectively as part of the onsite validation team to ensure that pathways are validated and corrected.

To ensure extensive feedback on validations completed on a pathway basis and to give an audit trail of the validations fulfilled on a daily basis.

To be able to utilise the MS Excel application as required to record validations

To share knowledge and collaborative working with colleagues

To be able to communicate well with all team members and all other trust employees.

The Directorate of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatology is based at the Jessop Wing which is linked to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. This comprises a Regional Tertiary Maternity Service with a Neonatal Unit of 44 cots. A tertiary Gynae-Oncology service and a diverse Gynaecology Service, which includes an Assisted Conception Unit, complete the services within the Directorate.
