Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic clinical perfusion scientist to join our existing team at the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.
A position has arisen for a clinical perfusion scientist to work in a multi disciplinary team within the Cardiothoracic Directorate.
As an autonomous practitioner a Clinical Perfusionist should offer a comprehensive specialist clinical and technical perfusion service during both routine and emergency procedures as a vital member of the multidisciplinary team during cardiac surgery. The Clinical Perfusionist will also participate in the development of department protocols and research.
Registration with The College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of GB&I is essential.
Main duties of the job
- Take, where appropriate, delegated responsibility for the delivery of a highly specialistperfusion service, ensuring the service is effective and well-coordinated.
- Offer and undertake a range of highly specialised perfusion techniques during routine andemergency cardiopulmonary bypass.
- Assess patients' relevant medical history, pathology and diagnosis and make appropriatedecisions concerning conduct of cardiopulmonary bypass procedures.
- Advise clinicians on the suitability of equipment and suggest to clinicians appropriatecourses of action.
