Our acute diabetes and endocrinology wards provide high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals with complex medical needs, including those with mental health conditions. Each ward has a unique specialty:

Vickers 2 specialises in diabetic foot care, offering expert support to patients with complex diabetic foot complications.

Vickers 3 is the designated safe haven for individuals with eating disorders, providing holistic and compassionate care tailored to their needs.

Both wards share a commitment to excellence in acute care, integrating physical and mental health management to address the multifaceted needs of our patients.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in leading, inspiring, and supporting a team of skilled professionals. You will be responsible for:

Delivering exceptional nursing care, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and compassion.

All three directorates operate on the Northern and Central campus' although the acute admitting base for all of the specialties is at the Northern General Hospital. The Care Group has 11 acute base wards at the Northern General Hospital and one acute and one elective base ward at the Central Campus. Outpatient services operate on both campus' and are supported by the Patient Booking Hub at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
