An exciting opportunity is now available to join a new pre-assessment nursing team for Endoscopy.

This Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse role will require a forward thinking confident well organised Nurse with extensive clinical experience at band 5 or 6 in Endoscopy.

This new pre-assessment nursing team will require you to have excellent communication and IT skills as you will be expected to communicate effectively across multiple interfaces and with your Line manager, your team, the Senior Sister at both Northern General and Royal Hallamshire hospital sites, Patients, Matron, Consultants, Non-Medical Endoscopists, Service managers, Rota co-ordinators, Admin team, and other professionals working within and from outside the trust in order to provide the full Endoscopy pre-assessment service.

Main duties of the job

You will need to be an effective change manager to assist the Senior Sister to develop this new team and get it established. There will be a performance measurement element to this role where target numbers of pre-assessments completed by the team is required and monitored. There is also expected to be a reduction in patients failing to attend and cancellations on the day of the procedure.

You will help to lead the nursing pre-assessment team to work within a multidisciplinary team and across clinical boundaries to enable high quality preparation of patients for Endoscopy procedures. You will need to have outstanding organisational and interpersonal skills, the ability to demonstrate leadership, a sound understanding of Endoscopy and Gastroenterology environments and Nursing care. Experience in assessment and the consent process is essential along with an understanding of JAG accreditation standards for Endoscopy services

All three directorates operate on the Northern and Central campus' although the acute admitting base for all of the specialties is at the Northern General Hospital. The Care Group has 11 acute base wards at the Northern General Hospital and one acute and one elective base ward at the Central Campus. Outpatient services operate on both campus' and are supported by the Patient Booking Hub at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
